Kurt Vonnegut Jr. Born and raised in, Indiana, Vonnegut on November 11, 1922, was a famous American writer. He attended Cornell University but dropped out in January 1943 and instead enlisted in the United States Army. Vonnegut published 14 novels, three short story collections, five plays, and five works of non-fiction, with many collections were published after his death.
