Dreams are necessary for taking control over life, for dreams change into thoughts and thoughts drive you to take actions. If you do not chase your dreams, you will end up living an unfulfilled and incomplete life. According to studies, people who chase their dreams and set goals are happier and peaceful than those who don’t have a vision at all.
Chasing your dreams is just like planning out for a road trip. If you know where you are going, you will eventually reach your destination and savor new experiences. If you are traveling without having destination in your mind, you will miss a lot of good places on your journey.
Dreams are possible and here are the three strong reasons why you should chase your dreams.
1. You Get What Is Important In Life
As you chase your dreams, you begin to find what your priorities are. Your dreams give you greater clarity about where you want to reach. You will develop the art of removing distractions by remaining self-disciplined.
If you have dreams, you will start writing down goals which will help you to hit the target in the shortest time possible. You remain positive and motivated throughout the process. You will start understanding the importance of friends, family, and relationships in your life.
“Define your priorities, know your values and believe in your purpose. Only then can you effectively share yourself with others.” – Les Brown
2. You Expand Yourself
Obviously, it is clear that no one is perfect and everyone does mistake while trying out something new. As you chase your dreams, you will find yourself doing blunders which may suck your motivation. But if you persist long enough, you will pat your back for doing them because you will understand that doing mistakes and learning from them is the only way to improve ourselves.
During the whole process, you not only build your potential but also find a lot of unique abilities which would otherwise you may not have found if you had not decided to chase your dreams.
We all have infinite resources of energy. What separates a winner from a loser is getting aware of the superhuman potential. Losers limit themselves with low mindset while winners learn and continuously expand themselves.
“I always was that person who was hard on myself and challenged myself no matter what I was doing, whether it was passing third grade or playing basketball.” – Kendrick Lamar
3. As You Chase Your Dreams Your Life Become Meaningful
You will take control over your present and eventually, the future will be yours. As you start achieving your short-term goals, you will build a tremendous faith in life. You will greater heights to climb and uplift your self-esteem.
Where most people will be going through the motions of day and night, you will learn the importance of time and use every minute and hour of your day for a big mission. All the comfortable and not-so-comfortable days will contribute to a meaningful life.
“Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
4. You Avoid Postponing Your Work
As you chase your dreams, your dreams will become a burning desire. Whenever you feel low, a thought about your dreams will get you back on the track. Studies have shown that people constantly think about their dreams and goals are motivated and have more focus. Unconsciously, they keep asking themselves “How they are going to make it possible.” Such question propels them to take actions, no matter how small.
Within a few weeks of goal setting, you will become more productive and continuously seek new ways to make your dreams possible.
“If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.” –Henry David Thoreau
In the end, I encourage you to chase your dreams because dreams help you in setting priorities, develop your inner abilities, make your life more meaningful and help you in avoiding postponing the life you deserve.
In the beginning, it’s better to define your dreams in a clear way.
“What are my burning desires? What I enjoy doing? What I would be doing in life if I don’t have to worry about the money? What job do I always want to do even I’m underpaid?” asking such questions will help you in defining your dreams in a meaningful way.
Set one big goal. Divide it in months, week and days, and chase your dreams until you get the desired results.
