If you hear any pearl of wisdom from Star Wars, it has probably come up from Master Yoda. After his famous lesson that we discussed in our post Fear Leads To Anger, Anger Leads To Hate, we have now come up with another life-changing piece of advice from Master Yoda: Do or do not there is no try
Do Or Do Not There Is No Try – Inspirational Video
The clip is from Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. Never giving up attitude is all Yoda asks Luke to develop in life. Once, you have determined to do something, do it completely rather than just trying. Discouraged Luke inspired by Yoda’s message, finally lifts the X-Wing fighter out of the swamp.
“Master, moving stones around is one thing. This is totally different,” said disappointed Luke.
“No. No different,” master Yoda said sharply and then softened immediately, “Only different in your mind. You must unlearn what you have learned,”
“All right, I’ll give it a try,” said Luke
“No. Try not. Do… or do not. There is no try,” said Yoda emphatically.
Three Lessons To Learn From “Do Or Do Not There Is No Try”
It’s All About State of Mind
Whatever you are going to do, it’s always your state of mind that will decide how far you will go in life. Extraordinary talented people fail to do the task what common people have done.
Countless studies show that it’s not your talent but your mindset that creates all the difference.
If you decide to do something, put your heart and soul in completing the work. You cannot avoid setbacks and failures. It’s something that develops your mental stamina and gives you the courage to believe in your instincts.
So with a positive mindset, sooner or later, you will make your way out of difficult situations.
Working In Face of Uncertainty
Fear of failure and uncertainty takes the heart off an individual.
Your ability to take action comes to a full-stop. The enthusiasm with which you started the journey has now drained off.
You know that you are procrastinating and living with a sense of dissatisfaction.
The important thing to learn here is that fear will always remain a part of our journey. And what you fear most about are the opportunities in disguise.
Facing the fears and overcoming them takes you on a whole new version of the life. You become confident and your self-image improves tremendously.
Unlearning Is The Beginning
The methods which were of great use a decade ago are not useful now. The technology and methods have evolved remarkably over the last few years. Learning is a continuous process. What we learned in the past must be updated with the new learning.
Now, learning is not only about remaining up-to-date with the market but also it is associated to human behavior and habits.
As we see in the above clip, Yoda asks Luke to unlearn what he has learned so far. He suggests Luke unlearn his behavior of self-doubt and start believing in himself. Instead of just trying things, he should learn to finish what he starts.
In the same way, it is essential for us to unlearn some self-limiting behavior to form a rigid and unshakable attitude in life.
