Leonardo Da Vinci (15 April 1452 – 2 May 1519), was one of the most famous painters of the Italian Renaissance and the Father of High Renaissance style. Very talented since childhood, he was apprenticed under the famous artist Verrocchio, at the age of 14. Initially becoming known for the smoky atmospheric pattern in his paintings, one of the earliest works which gained him recognition as “The Annunciation”, with the most spectacular background that he had crafted. Another, equally famous was “The Last Supper”.

Leonardo’s 1503 Commission for the Battle of Anghiari represented a high point in his life. It was a vast project, a fresco painting that would have decorated one wall of the Grand Council of Chamber in Palazzo Vecchio in Florence.
